Each individual performs the script for his or her own life. Neither chance nor a divine being writes the script for us. You are the author and the hero. To perform your play well, it is important to pound the script into your head so thoroughly that you can see it vividly before your eyes.                    Daisaku Ikeda

CHAKRA-BALANCING MEDITATION

Hi Everyone,

Today I came across this clip of Yogi Bhajan on Youtube. I love Yogi Bhajan, and this was the first time that I actually saw a video of him teaching. I felt like I was there with him, even though he died in 2004. In this video he teaches about the reason we use a mantra when we meditate. For anyone out there interested in meditation and the mind--regardless of what your religious or spiritual faith is--I think you will benefit from what he has to say. So please watch it and enjoy. Let's really be disciplined in our meditations. That's how we change!

ELECTION 2008

Everyone has something to say about the political situation of the current moment, so I’d like to add my two bits. First, I am an Obama supporter, and I want him to win with all my heart. But I find that I start to get anxiety when I let myself become obsessed with what's happening in the campaign. I feel that whatever is going down right now has to play out. If Obama is truly the leader that I hope that he is, then he will not only persevere through this battle, but he will emerge triumphant.

All that's happening right now is that Obama is confronting the Washington power elite. And they are telling him in so many words that they don't want him to come in and spoil the party they are all having on Capitol Hill. The power structure is going to fight will all its might to maintain its power. Obama and his campaign represent a movement of the people. Nothing threatens Authority more than a legitimate movement of the people. His viable campaign only exists because of the organization of common people. If you are not familiar with how the "grassroots" nature of the Obama campaign works, then you can check out an article entitled, "The Machinery of Hope," by Tim Dickinson. It is in the current issue of Rolling Stone Magazine with Obama on the cover.

The criticism of Obama is that he doesn't have the experience to be a leader. Martin Luther King Jr. did not have the experience when he organized the Bus Boycott in Montgomery back in 1955, but he was a natural leader of the people. If Obama is truly our next great president--our Abraham Lincoln; our Franklin Roosevelt for the 21st century--then destiny will not be able to deny him that position. He'll shine through. This is my projection out into the Universe.

We live in an age or anxiety. CNN promotes anxiety. TV promotes anxiety. Uncertainty, uncertainty, uncertainty, fear, fear, fear...it's all our culture promotes. I can't let that energy run my life right now. I have dreams to pursue. I decide that I am going to focus my energy on Obama's campaign theme: "HOPE." Can we experience a rebirth in our society? "Yes we can!" But most importantly, can I change my life for the better? "Yes, I can." The change starts inside you and me and moves out. Start with “Positive Projection.”

I want us all to be happy and to be win together. If you'd like to do a meditation that can really help you relax and get balanced, please practice with my Chakra-Balancing Meditation below.

Dear Friends,

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve written. I’m going to do my best to start up regularly again.

I just got home from an amazing trip to Mexico and Panama. I went to a wedding in each country. They were both so fun. I recount some of my experiences in my most recent video blog. www.youtube.com/yomothermovie

I got home and began reading the new “Rolling Stone,” which is their 40th Anniversary special issue. There is a terrific interview with Bob Dylan. You have to love how elusive he is. He won’t ever answer anything directly, but what he says is often so profound.

At one point Jann Wenner asks him, “What do you take faith in?” And Dylan responds, “Nature. Just elemental nature. I’m still tramping my through the forest, really, on daily excursions. Nature doesn’t change. And if there is any war going on on a big level today, it’s against nature.” Right on! In Panama I felt so close to nature. I was in the Jungle. The jungle is teeming with life. It’s everywhere. You can feel the energy. It is so pregnant with life force energy. I have to admit, I wasn’t really practicing very intensely on my trip. Yet I felt so close to my source because the nature around me was feeding me deeply with prana.

Even though there are many poor people there, the have to benefit of living so intimately with nature. Like Dylan says, there is a war going on against nature. Wouldn’t it be sad to lose the Earth precious nature in the name of global consumerism. Where is our long-term vision?

I hope you feel your life shifting. If you don’t, take a moment to get quiet. That divine nature is one with the vibrant green jungle I was just visiting. Tap into the source and you will be fed.

I’m working on a writing project right now in which I have to examine certain events from my past. It’s always interesting to reflect back on your life, because some many things that were once confusing now make sense. I think on some level we all wish that we could go back and relive college, for instance, with the same consciousness we have today. How would our choices have been different? What course would our life have taken? But, alas, we are never given the chance to do it again.

As I look at my life today and as I talk to people around me, I notice that we still get caught up in anxiety and fear. We worry about the choices we are making. We fret that painful circumstances will never change. Only rarely do we employ the consciousness we gained through our life experience. To have faith is to say, “Look at my life. I went through some great hardships, but I made it through. I’ve evolved. I’ve changed. The things that bothered me so much in the past feel like a distant memory. My current struggles will resolve as well. I will continue to navigate my life in a positive direction, no matter what.”

Let’s live today so that we don’t have to look back in 20 years without any regret. Let’s have faith in the infinite capacity of our life to grow.

Dear Friends,

I bet a lot of people have checked in during the last month and noticed that I haven't updated my blog very often. I apologize. I find that it is a continual battle for me to remain consistent in just about everything in life. You can either beat yourself up for not being perfect, or you can simply accept yourself and start again. So, although I may not be writing a lot in this entry, it is my attempt to begin once again.

Sat Nam.

Tuesday 06 February 2007

My big theme lately has been, “Making the effort to change.” Isn’t that so difficult in the face of our deep-rooted tendencies? We want to change. We want to do things differently. And yet it’s just so much easier to do things the way we’ve always done it.

Now take it to the global level. We all want to see our world change for the better. We want an end to this stupid war. We want to curtail global warming. It seems like such a huge task ahead of us, that we don’t even know how to begin.

Change begins in the present moment. Change is a journey you must take one step at a time. Change is a process. Begin where you are. Whatever it is that bothers you in your life, approach it differently—just a little bit differently. If you are consistent in your effort to change, the result will show up.

Keep the faith.

MOTHER
